EU Proposes Retaliatory Tariffs on Boeing Jets Amid US Trade Dispute
The European Union is preparing to impose significant tariffs on Boeing aircraft and other key US exports in response to trade restrictions implemented by the Trump administration. Brussels has compiled a list targeting €100 billion in annual American imports, with the measures requiring approval from EU member states.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the European Commission will only proceed with aircraft tariffs if Washington refuses to lift existing trade barriers. The proposal currently needs backing from a weighted majority of the EU’s 27 nations before becoming law, with officials noting the list remains subject to final adjustments.
This escalation follows April’s tariff measures by the Trump administration, which placed Boeing at the center of the transatlantic trade dispute. The move threatens to further disrupt already strained commercial routes between the economic blocs.
